Citation, Erasure, and Violence: A Memoir

This essay examines the intimate relationship between personal, political, violence, and citational erasure through lens of Black women’s experience. Antiblackness, misogyny, patriarchy together produce environment that foments within anthropology academy more broadly. Such is not just an intellectual matter. It equally a matter power whose logic has deep roots in settler-colonial extractivism historical exploitation labor. Citation thus only concerns naming or bibliographic incorporation but also patterns race-gender haunt present.
